I work in web as an internet entrepreneur and reading a story like this saddens me a little (that and I'm listening to a little piano in the background at the same time!) Friendster must have worked around the clock like we all did to launch and continuously update their site but lost out to the monster that Facebook became. The public is finicky and you could probably write a sociology thesis on why one beat out the other when Friendster was well out of the gate first.
